A monk's education at Dzongkar Choede runs on five great Indian treatises — Pramāṇa, Prajñāpāramitā, Madhyamaka, Abhidharma and Vinaya — and takes between nineteen and twenty-five years. Root texts are memorized; the commentaries are not. What is memorized builds the structure, and debate in the courtyard is what tests whether the understanding holds.
Teachings drawn from that curriculum will be published here. For reflections on how Buddhist thought meets ordinary life, see Buddhism in the World.
